A Critical Discourse Analysis of Imran Khan’s and Narendra Modi’s Inaugural Addresses

Abstract

Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is a set of methods used to study language and discourse accounting ideologies,  and the production,  contest,  and significance of unequal power relationships within society and groups…This study is focused upon investigating inaugural addresses of Imran khan and Narendra Modi. The research focuses on how language is employed in political speeches to produce,  fight,  and indicate uneven power relations.   Similarly,  the study attempts to find out the relationship between politics,  power,  ideology,  manipulation,  and CDA. This study is based on the Sociocognitive model of Critical Discourse Analysis for the analysis of speeches and this study makes use of qualitative research tools and design.   The results show that he proposes divergent structures of ideologies for having a rapid influence on the minds of people.
